my new philippine passport

Finally got my new Philippine Passport! :) As I have blogged previously, I had it done in the Philippine Consulate in Dubai.

They sent me an email yesterday that it is already available and I visited their “new” office building today. The new villa is in the same location as the previous one, still in Al Qusais, and this one is way bigger and more proper office/sections. The passport and documents claiming queue is no longer done outside but in an airconditioned office, quite an improvement from their previous setup…

Will write more later ;)

Machine Readable!

Yes! That’s what they call the new passport I am getting tomorrow. This technology has been around for some time now, but my old passport which I got like 5 years ago is not yet “machine readable”.

Since it already expired, I had it renewed at the Philippine Consulate in Dubai, and now I got a reply from my enquiry.

Yay! My new “machine readable” passport is ready for me to claim! :) Let’s see what happens tomorrow

Finally! My old Philippine passport has been…. processed

I can’t say “renewed”, but I was able to finally finish the renewal process and now awaiting for the new machine readable Philippine passport.

They say in the receipt that it will take 10-12weeks, that’s 2-3months. But it’s ok.

I am going to write again my experience soon. Just a quick one, I arrived at 8am and got to desk #1 within 15minutes (8th person in queue. I will also write how – later. :)

There was a short commotion in room #2 (encoding area) because one man tried to take a video of the whole room! Which of course angered the personnel there – you know why? – because there were 3 workstations, yet only 1 has a staff attending to it. :)

I’m dying to write my account of it, but I’m just stuck with another task right now so that’s just it for the moment ;)

At the moment my passport is still not renewed. I am just waiting for 24th of June to go the Philippine Consulate in the Dubai, UAE. I booked the schedule via email to the good consulate’s “Yahoo! Mail” address. :) At least they tried to be hi-tech right?

They should definitely stop using a free email service like Yahoo! Mail for important public matters like – passport renewal.

I noticed that a lot of people are actually looking for details on how to renew their Philippine passports in the UAE. I can only speak of how it is in Dubai, since I am currently residing in Dubai.

I do not think that people come to the Consulate in Al Qusais as early as 3 A.M. I may be wrong, but I believe this is a myth or unecessary. I went there 2x at around 7a.m., even went to a wrong queue on my first ten minutes and still managed to get to serviced by the people there at around 10:30 – without crashing queue. That’s on a Tuesday however, they say it swells on Sundays and Thursdays but I wouldn’t know. I think the people working in the consulate are doing the best they can to accommodate as much people as they can.

Two very important things I have learned regarding photos though. For passport renewals, there is no need to bring a passport photo. This is stated in the electronic form you need to fill out anyway. Your photo will be taken in the consulate.

For passport extension however, you may bring a passport copy, but still if you don’t, you can have your photo taken there.

Photocopying your documents are a bit expensive. It is best to have 2 sets of copies for whatever you needed there. For example, the First page of your passport (where you have your Name and other details), the Visa page, the last page, and some say the page where you have your last exit from UAE/ and latest departure from the Philippines back to UAE.

I did not do this last time, but it doesn’t take much to prepare this anyway.

Again, bring 2 sets of everything, a pen and some patience. :)

I will be posting more links here so that people will have an idea how it is. Hope this helps
